Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors post comments on our site, we collect the information provided in the comment form, along with their IP address and browser user agent details, to assist in detecting and preventing spam.

We may create an anonymized string (hash) from your email address and share it with the Gravatar service to check if you have a registered profile. You can view the Gravatar service privacy policy here: https://acahealthchecker.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to our website, please ensure they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download images from the site and extract any location information they contain.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This option is provided for your convenience, so you won’t have to re-enter your details for future comments. These cookies will remain stored for one year.

If you have an account and log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is removed when you close your browser

When you log in, we set several cookies to store your login details and screen display preferences. Login cookies remain for two days, while screen preference cookies last for one year. If you choose “Remember Me,” your login will stay active for two weeks. Logging out will remove the login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only records the post ID of the article you edited. It will expire after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may contain embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites functions the same as if you visited those websites directly.

These external sites may collect data about you, use cookies, include third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content — including tracking your activity if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

When you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments without placing them in a moderation queue.

For registered users (if any), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except for their username, which cannot be changed. Website administrators also have access to view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have posted comments, you may request an exported file containing the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided. You may also request the deletion of any personal data we hold about you, except for data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service
